Amethyst, the February birthstone, is a type of quartz widely recognized for its shades of lavender. Because quartz is a material found abundantly in the earth’s crust, purple quartz can often be found in geodes or the cavities of stones.

This stone has different meanings across cultures, but today the stone is most associated with protection and intuition while making way for clarity of the mind and resisting intoxication. Name The name Amethyst is derived from the Greek word “a” meaning “not” and “mythein” meaning “drunk” roughly translating to “not drunk”, hence why it’s known as a protection stone against intoxicating energy.
Color The stones can actually vary in color ranging from light pinkish to deep dark purple.
